A UK Spa2Go Review

Pros: brilliant spa, does what it says, but it is not for life.

Cons: needs a lot of maintenance and has a history of going wrong

Price Paid: £600

Review

I have always wanted a spa but just could not afford that sort of money so when we saw this at our local garden centre for £600, we bought it on the spot.

Since owning it we have found out the hard way if you want to keep it in tip top condition. This is not a spa where you fill it up and check it once a fortnight. Chances are you will find it over heating or stopped working and this spa has a very bad name to it for going wrong. No spa dealer will now sell it in the UK as so many have gone wrong - which we now think is because of the hassle of maintenance and people who owned one just didn't appreciate what you have to do.

We have found it needs daily maintenance to keep the water clear and the pump working 100%. If you go away for a week, turn it off. If you don't air it once every other day you get an air lock in the pump which over a week will stop it heating. If you do not change the filter once a week, it clogs up, gets dirty and stops heating. If you fill it up from the tap you have to wait at least 48 hours to get up to 38 degrees temperature. You also have to inflate the thing once a month as the base goes down. The base, top and actual hot tub does get water inside it.

You must also check the water once a day otherwise the water starts to go murky.

We have heard from lots of dealers and people that own them that they go wrong. Ours has gone wrong after 8 months. The warranty lasts a year. The manufacturers have been brilliant and offered lots of advice and customer service is 100%.

The only advice we give to you if you buy one be prepared to give it once a day maintenance and chances are it will last up to 5 years - however you might just be one of the many whose machine has gone wrong within the year, just like ours.

Another UK Spa2Go Review:

Pros: Cheap, good liner

Cons: Heater, pump etc unreliable

Price Paid: £349

Review

I purchased a spa2go in march 2005. Read the manual and set it up.

Problem was it wouldn't heat. Spoke to the dealer who directed me to the after-sales agent.

Great service, Although I had to pay £20 to send it to them, even though it was less than a day old.

They changed the heater and sent the electrics back.

Lasted a Month and did it again.

Sent it back again, £20.00. Was returned again. Lasted a month and stopped heating again.

In essence.. The dealer was useless, the after-sales was good (they did however take a Month each time to fix it) but I like the soft feel of the tub.

As the other reviewer said, you must maintain them and I thought I may have had a dodgy unit. But I now know that no spa dealer will sell them.

I didnt give up however and bought a small 1/2hp pool pump, an Elecro 3kw pool heater and a koi filter and replaced all the cheap far eastern parts with quality bits. I did howver keep the blower motor and used the digital controller.

This now heats 2centigrage and hour and when you run the blower for 15mins it replaces the heat in under 5 mins (Southern UK climate)

The filters are now changed every Month and the only thing I had to do to the liner was enlarge the exit hole to allow the increased pump to push 5000L an hour.

In all A great tub when you change the parts for quality.

The cost to do this is only £270.00 on top of the initial outlay.
